Plot Points

Battle with Svarku

The ifrit grows to the size of a giant and pulls a fire scimitar from a magical tattoo on his forearm. Penelope is at the helm flying the astral ship as her acid arrows man the deck. Eunice and her party are unarmed save for Jacques tosses Audrey a dagger.

  • Svarku punts Gretta and she crashes into the cargo hold, which was converted into a casino.
  • Jacques hits Svarku with a poisoned dagger that gives everyone an advantage to damage for the whole combat.1
  • Silvar hits him with arrows.
  • Golman (transformed into a Duecadre) tries to bum-rush Svarku, but gets tossed off, his foot snared by a rope. He dangles high off the side of the ship.

Sidecut: Hagar

There is a knock at the door to Isla’s room and Zeb the Portal Merchant stands there. He asks for Hagar and explains his friends are now in danger and need help. He throws a vial of Liquid Portal behind Hagar and pushes him into it, the portal opens on the ship’s casino and he falls into Gretta. Isla thinking quickly, throws a potion of flight after Hagar who catches it. The liquid portal evaporates and the connection closes.

Battle with Svarku, Continued

  • Grtta carries Hagar (litterally) to the upper decks, getting him into the fight.
  • Silvar rushes to help Golman (now back in human form) and begins to pull him back on deck. The rope begins to fray under the strain.
  • Jacques, Gretta, and Hagar engage Svarku, who laughs at their attempts to harm him.
  • The Acid Arrows help the players the best they can, while Eunice and the rest scramble to the casino to look for anything that can help.
  • Hagar shouts to Penelope “Take the ship to that tower over there!” Pointing to the Lapid Observatory. She changes course.
  • Gretta shouts at Baxter to grab anything that looks like a throne and toss it overboard, as Svarku uses it to Teleport. They follow Gretta’s lead and search.
  • Svarku grabs Zara and tosses her overboard (she doesn’t make it).
  • Svarku pulls fire from the ship’s solar sails and uses it as a makeshift fireball, hitting almost everyone.
  • Audrey and Baxter are seen lifting a “golden throne” out of the main cabin and tossing it over the side. Svarku’s attitude changes quickly; his means of escape has been cut off.
  • The battle continues and Penelope almost has the ship to the Observatory.
  • Goleman changes into a Zip bird and bolts at Svarku. The electrical discharge is enough to fry Svarku but not before Svarku deals a mortal wound to Golman.
  • Svarku crawls away “We could have been friends!” before Gretta crushes him with her hammer, ending him.
  • Penelope docks the ship at the Lapis Observatory, the day is won, and they’ve gained a powerful artifact.

Unresolved Plot Threads

The whole campaign. While this was a major pivot point, we didn’t have enough weeks left in the season to finish this out. Here is what was missed.

  • Martel Company tries to seize the island’s assets.
  • Harold reveals himself as Blood Beard the pirate and tries to take the island from Martel.
  • The Night Ogres and Nereids who are now the island natives fight to maintain what they have.
  • Tons of unexplored mysteries to the island itself.

  1. This felt incredibly overpowered, but the amount of damage dice you acutally roll in this game is low, the math working out to about +1 damage per attack. ↩︎
