Ragnarök came and went, and what crawled out of the ash wasn't salvation — it was hunger. The ice is retreating, but the things that hid in Fimbulwinter's shadow are emerging with it, and there is no Odin, no Thor, no Valhalla waiting for the fallen.

Just you. Just the runes your grandparents carved that mean something — you feel it — if only someone could remember how.

The magic is still here — wild, ownerless, yours if you're bold enough.

The age of gods is over. The age of heroes begins now.

  • Your village has a weak foothold, a palisades wall, some farmland, and livestock to be defended them at all costs.

Commentary

I like the idea that the old myths are dead and the players will rediscover magic they know is there (like lost technology) without the setting baggage of having to know tons of setting lore. We're here to play fantasy vikings after all.
